Establishment – Cadet College Palandri

Cadet College Palandri is a premier educational institution located in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, established in response to the genuine demand of the people of AJ&K. In 1973, the Government of Pakistan announced the establishment of Cadet College Palandri, along with similar colleges at Larkana (Sindh) and Mastung (Balochistan), to provide quality education to the youth of Pakistan.

In 1976, the Federal Government of Pakistan allocated a sum of Rs. 1.525 million for the initial survey, designing, and soil testing of the project. A total of sixty (60) acres of land worth Rs. 2.434 million was acquired for the college. The designing of the project was carried out by M/S Allied Engineering Consultants, Lahore.

The project remained pending since July 1977 due to a lack of funds until it was revived in 1987. It was at this time that Lt Col (Retd) Muhammad Naqi Khan, the then Project Director, made a dedicated effort to establish the college. On 22 January 1990, the then Honourable Prime Minister of Azad Government of the State of J&K laid the foundation stone of the college, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of education in the region.

The Board of Governors of the college decided to commission the college on 9 July 1998, with effect from 15 September 1998. In just eight weeks, all the necessary preparations, including the procurement of equipment and furniture, the selection of cadets, teaching staff, and administrative staff, were completed. The college was inaugurated on 15 September 1998 by the then Prime Minister of the Azad Government of the State of J&K, marking the beginning of its academic session.

Since its inception, Cadet College Palandri has been committed to providing quality education to its cadets, enabling them to become responsible and productive members of society. The college has a rich legacy of producing outstanding graduates who have gone on to serve their communities and the country with distinction.
