The idea to establish the College was initially conceived by Lt Gen Muhammad Arif Bangash, who was then the Commander of the 9th Division. On 1st March 1990, the foundation stone for the college was laid by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto. The Pakistan Army generously donated 85 acres of land for the establishment of the college. After three years of preparation, the college finally commenced its academics with five classes ranging from 6th to 10th grade on 29th April 1993. It was initially established as Kohat Garrison College and was formally inaugurated by Lt Gen Muhammad Arif Bangash, who was then the Quarter Master General of the Pakistan Army, on 10th May 1993.

In 1998, the college was renamed as Garrison Cadet College Kohat (GCCK). It operates under the supervision of the Army Headquarters 9th Division in Kohat and is under the patronage of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Over the years, the college has been led by eight serving Army Officers who held the ranks of Brigadier and Colonel.

Admission in Garrison Cadet College Kohat:

Eligibility for admission:

For admission to any class a candidate must either be studying in that class or must have passed the last lower class at the time of admission.

Age limits will be count 1st April for Class 8 and 1st August for Class 11. Moreover, the physical appearance of the candidate must commensurate with the age mentioned below:

Class VIII        –           12 – l4 Years                                                     

Class XI          –           15 – l7 Years

Total seats for class 8 are 120. 

Class XI
Limited seats may fall vacant in class 11, for which admissions are granted purely on merit.

Withdrawal Policy

  • In the event that a cadet fails to meet the required academic standards in the annual promotion examination, they will be required to repeat the same class.
  • If a cadet fails for a second time and does not show any improvement in their academic performance, they will be withdrawn from the college.
  • It is important to note that cadets who violate the college's rules and disciplinary standards will also be withdrawn from the college.
  • The decision of the College Discipline Committee regarding any disciplinary action taken against a cadet will be considered final and cannot be challenged in court.
  • In the case of a cadet failing the send-up examination, they will also be required to repeat the class or may be expelled from the college based on the decision of their parents.
