CAREER OPPORTUNITY AS SHARIAH ADVISOR
National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a state-owned insurance company in Pakistan, invites applications from qualified individuals for advisory services as a Shariah Advisor on a contractual basis. The position covers both Window Takaful Operations (WTO) and guidance for Transition towards Takaful Model.
Applicants should meet the following qualifications, experience, and age criteria:
JOB SPECIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION Eligibility Qualification and Experience:
Holds Shahadat-ul-Aalamiyyah Degree (Dars-e-Nizami) from any recognized Board of Madaris with minimum seventy percent (70%) marks and Bachelor's degree recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan with minimum 2nd Class with at least four (4) years' experience of giving Shariah rulings in Fiqh-ul-Muamulat i), that is, Islamic commercial jurisprudence including the period of Takhasus fil Ifta or
Holds a post graduate degree in Kuliyyatush Shariah (or Kuliyyah Usooluddin s), LLM. (Shariah), MS Shariah or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent, from an institution recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
Work Experience:
At least four (4) years' experience of giving Shariah rulings in fiqh (فقه), preferably fiqhul muamulat (فقه المعامالت), that is, Islamic commercial jurisprudence including the period of Takhasus fil Ifta (تخصص في الفتا) : or
At least five (5) years' experience in teaching or research or training in Islamic financial services; or
At least five (5) years' experience in working in relevant departments of an institution offering Islamic financial services; or
At least five (5) years' experience in working in the relevant department of banking or securities or insurance regulator.
Key Responsibilities and Scope of Work:
The Shariah Advisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Provide expert advice on Window Takaful Operations (WTO) and on the Transition towards Takaful Model.
Ensure that all WTO operations, investments, contracts, agreements, and future Takaful operations of NICL adhere strictly to Shariah principles.
Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and guidelines issued by SECP relating to Takaful and Window Takaful.
Assist in developing and implementing Shariah-compliant products, policies, and procedures for WTO and full Takaful operations.
Provide technical advice and Shariah rulings in handling reinsurance (Re-Takaful) and direct Takaful operations.
Conduct training and awareness sessions for employees, management, and stakeholders on Takaful/Shariah matters.
Supervise and ensure compliance with Takaful Rules, 2012 and future regulatory frameworks for full-fledged Takaful transition.
Scope of work as described by the SECP in Takaful Rules 2012.
Any other tasks required under applicable laws or assigned by, or with the approval of, the Competent Authority.
Terms/Conditions and Other Related Information:
Selection will be strictly on merit in accordance with the criteria prescribed in Takaful Rules 2012 and SECP regulations.
The advisory services will be initially for two (2) years, extendable based on company needs and satisfactory performance.
The selected Shariah Advisor will be paid a fixed monthly fee, mutually decided based on qualifications and experience.
The reporting of the Shariah Advisor shall be defined in accordance with the approval of the competent authority.
The role may require Travelling, subject to competent authority approval.
Sharia Advisor should be registered with SECP.
Age: Maximum 55 years on the closing date of applications.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Initial appointment will be for two years, extendable upon satisfactory performance.
Original academic/professional documents must be presented at the time of interview.
No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing in interview.
NICL reserves the right to terminate the hiring process at any stage without assigning reasons.
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview.
