APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE POSITIONS OF VICE CHANCELLORS OF PUBLIC SECTOR MEDICAL UNIVERSITIES IN PUNJAB
Upon promulgation of "The Public Sector Medical Universities (Amendment) Act 2026" (Act XLVIII of 2026), Government of the Punjab, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department invites fresh applications for the positions of Vice Chancellors of following public sector Medical Universities in Punjab:
- King Edward Medical University, Lahore
- Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore
- University of Health Sciences, Lahore
- Faisalabad Medical University, Faisalabad
- Rawalpindi Medical University, Rawalpindi
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
A person shall not be eligible for the post of Vice Chancellor unless he/she has:
- (a) MBBS degree (minimum second division) or equivalent minimum level-III medical qualification such as FCPS or MD or MS or equivalent qualification in clinical subjects or Ph.D in basic medical sciences from an institute or a university recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council;
- (b) been a Professor for at least ten years in a medical institute or university recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council; and
- (c) at least twenty publications in indexed medical journals recognized by the Higher Education Commission or Pakistan Medical and Dental Council;
- (d) Candidate must not be more than seventy years of age on the last date of submission of applications.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Appointment shall be for a period of four years (non-extendable) and shall serve during the pleasure of the Chancellor.
- The Vice Chancellor shall not hold any paid or unpaid post (Administrative/ academic/ honorary) in any organization/ professional body during the term.
- The Vice Chancellor may undertake academic and clinical assignments in the University and its attached hospital for academic purposes only.
- The Vice Chancellor shall not undertake any private practice inside or outside the premises of the University.
- Detailed terms and conditions of appointment shall be notified separately.

- Applicants are requested to apply for the position on the prescribed proforma accompanied by the required documents given at https://health.punjab.gov.pk/Jobs.aspx
- No Objection Certificate (NOC), No Enquiry Certificate (NEC) and No Due Certificate (NDC) from the current employer is mandatory.
- Applications must clearly mention on the top: "Application for the Position of the Vice Chancellor of public sector medical universities".
- Applications submitted after the stipulated date and time shall not be considered/ entertained.
- Only eligible/ short-listed applicants will be called for interviews.
